Victory!!!

I finally did it!! I completed the one pysanka (Ukrainian style Easter egg) that has had my inner voice working over-time yelling at me to "just do it!" It took me a couple of nights, but it's done, and it doesn't look half bad. There is one problem though. I never purchased the tool to blow the eggs out, so I think I'm just going to try my luck, walk on egg shells (pun intended) for about a year until they dry out naturally. That also means that the last egg, the red one in the photo, which is meant for my awesome sister, is going to have to stay  here with me until the coast is clear and the danger of exploding, rotten eggs has passed before I can send it to her. (*Dear Sis, I hope you like your egg!) I will also be buying some spray lacquer in the next couple of days to seal and protect the outside of the eggs. Maybe this will act as a glue and bind the eggs together to keep them from exploding! Silly, I know, but a girl can hope can't she?

So with this little victory dance now complete, it's time to move to the next personal challenge. Maybe my dining room will get the attention it so desperately needs (see my earlier posts).

Oh, and if you're interested in seeing the Pysanky my sister created you can see them on her blog. She's really an incredible artist.

  1. You are a brave soul! I love the egg! Maybe, you can send it to me and I'll blow it out? I'd sure hate to see any of these you did blow up! Wish we lived closer!

  2. I'm so glad you like it! I thought of sending it to you, but I think that would be more disasterous than just letting it dry out. I just don't trust the package handlers, one good shake and the egg may explode (gases are starting to build, because it was half-way floating in the dye).
